MeLE Overclock X5

The MeLE Overclock X5 is a compact Intel mini PC built on the Core i5-12450H (8 cores, 12 threads), aimed at productivity and connectivity rather than raw speed. Despite the name, it does not overclock anything. As Robtech put it in his review, the Overclock X5 “has nothing to do with overclocking”; the 12450H is a locked H-series chip, and “Overclock” is just MeLE’s product line name.

What it does offer is ports and expandability: 16GB of DDR4 (upgradable to 64GB), two M.2 slots for up to 4TB of storage, dual 2.5GbE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, microSD, and quad-display output over two HDMI and two USB-C ports. It runs Windows 11 Pro. The weak points are the integrated Intel UHD graphics and the cooling under sustained load.

Two M.2 slots, dual 2.5GbE, and a locked i5

The Core i5-12450H is an 8-core (4P + 4E), 12-thread chip (3.3 GHz base, up to 4.4 GHz). Single-core performance is fine, but its multi-core results trail AMD options like the Ryzen 6600H in the Beelink SER5 Pro, as Robtech noted. The integrated Intel UHD graphics handle older and lighter titles and PS2/GameCube-era emulation, not modern games.

Memory is 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 (8GB x 2) and goes to 64GB, and the two M.2 slots (one PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe, one SATA) take up to 4TB. Ports include three USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, two USB-C (DisplayPort out), two HDMI, dual 2.5GbE, microSD, and Wi-Fi 6, with quad-display output across the HDMI and USB-C. The horizontal case is easy to open for upgrades, with feet covering the screws.

Heat is the weak point. Robtech measured up to 100C under load with thermal throttling and a fan that gets loud, and the bundled Gen 3 NVMe drive runs slow and hot.

Robtech liked the look (he called it “one sleek and sexy-looking Mini PC”) and the I/O: the dual 2.5GbE, Wi-Fi 6, easy upgrade access, and quad-display output. His gripes were the lack of Thunderbolt and a large external power brick that undercuts the small footprint.

On performance, he found the i5-12450H fine on single-core but behind AMD’s Ryzen 6600H on multi-core, with the UHD graphics good for older or lighter games (GTA V and League of Legends held above 60 fps) and PS2/GameCube emulation, but not modern titles. He did rate it capable for 4K video editing with little stuttering.

Heat was his main concern. The X5 hit 100C under load and throttled, with audible fan noise, and it drew about 15W at idle and 97W at peak, high for the class. The bundled NVMe is a slower Gen 3 drive that runs hot. His verdict was that the build and design are good but the thermals and the locked mid-range CPU hold it back at the price, and a lower-TDP chip or better cooling would help.

Customer Reviews

Amazon buyer reviews skew positive, with a minority reporting cooling or reliability problems. The positive ones praise raw performance and the small VESA-friendly form factor. CHARLES Y., a verified buyer who had been running older MeLE stick PCs, wrote that “This new model is superb compared to what I’ve been using” and called out its “component upgrade options.” Another verified buyer, Peter L, kept it brief: “Does what it says. Great performance just needs a keyboard and monitor.”

Ironman, a verified three-star reviewer, said it performs like other i5 mini PCs but flagged the cooling: “the fan design is 3x louder than say, the Beelink SER5, which I also have. Audible from 15 feet away,” adding that it is also pricier than its peers. More seriously, verified buyer Hamed left a one-star review reporting an early failure, writing that “It suddenly stopped working after only 4 months which I barely used.” With only a dozen ratings on record, these are individual experiences rather than a proven pattern.

A ports-first desktop that runs hot under load

The dual 2.5GbE, quad-display output, two M.2 slots, and microSD make it a tidy productivity and home-network box, and the RAM and storage are easy to grow. The build and the I/O are the strong points.

Skip it for gaming or heavy multitasking: the UHD graphics are entry-level, the locked i5-12450H trails AMD options on multi-core, and heat is the sticking point, with Robtech measuring 100C and throttling under load.
